About the Key City Classic Show Choir Invitational

The Key City Classic Show Choir Invitational (KCC) was conceived in 2018 and planning began in earnest amongst many different coordinators and volunteers involved with the Wahlert Catholic High School Show Choir program. The competition is held at Wahlert Catholic High School in Dubuque, Iowa - known as the Key City. The first competition took place in 2019 and repeated in 2020. Scheduling of the competition was interupted in 2021-2022 by the COVID-19 Pandemic. We look forward to rebooting the wonderful experience that was created in our first two years for the coming iteration in 2024!

The competition is brought to life around the parent and fan base of the Wahlert Catholic Show Choir community and their varsity show choir - Impulse. Impulse is an auditioned show choir consisting of more than 45 singers and 20 instrumentalists and crew members. The group has enjoyed a tradition of performing for audiences through the Midwest since 1997.

Impulse is choregraphed by Ben Eklund and arranged by Kevin Duggan and is under the direction of Amy Pham with band director Jeremy Jones.
